Composite Bonding

Unlock the confidence you’ve been missing in your smile by choosing stress-free teeth-enhancing composite bonding.

Introducing… Composite Bonding

  • Treatment: layers of tooth-coloured composite resin are bonded to individual teeth.
  • Treatment time: 1- 2 appointments depending on the number of teeth.
  • Duration of results: 5 years (dependent on maintenance and oral hygiene status).
  • Benefits: minimally invasive smile makeover (discolouration reversed + small gaps closed + symmetrical-looking teeth + width-to-tooth ratio restored).

What is Composite Bonding?

Address cosmetic dental imperfections with composite bonding. This process is a precise mix of science, artistic flair and dexterity. Your dentist will personalise the treatment to address specific cosmetic anomalies with your teeth. Tooth-coloured layers of composite resins are applied directly to individual teeth to achieve the final result.

Why Get Composite Bonding?

When in the hands of craftsmanship-minded dentists, composite bonding can be a transformative solution for tired-looking teeth. It involves the application of composite resin layers to individual teeth.

Composite bonding can be of different types – single-layer composite bonding

  • Multiple layered bonding with effects and tints.
  • Injection moulding technique.

Benefits of bonding –

  • Provide a minimally invasive solution for tooth enhancement.
  • Improve your tooth shade.
  • Address chipped and cracked teeth.
  • Address worn down teeth
  • Improve the width and length of individual teeth and your smile as a whole.
  • Address minor and major alignment problems by closing small to large gaps in your teeth.

Treatment Process

The composite bonding treatment process is one of the most straightforward in dentistry. Minor cases do not require anaesthetic.

  • Consultation
Your initial consultation is a chance for you to learn about composite bonding, the advantages, and how it works. We will show you previous case studies of patients who have undergone treatment with composite bonding and welcome any questions you have.
  • Evaluation
We will take digital photos of your smile, X-rays, and dental impressions. Your dentist will show you a series of proposed shades for your new tooth shade. Once you have agreed upon a shade, the resins can be moulded to your tooth.
  • Crafting Your New Tooth/Teeth
The tooth/teeth are built up gradually using layers of composite resin. The resins are carefully placed to address dental imperfections (cracks, chips, gaps) and shaped to give a balanced length and width ratio. The resins are set solidly in place with a UV light.
  • Finishing Touches
To achieve the most natural finish possible, the tooth is polished to a very high standard. Your dentist will show you the results and make any adjustments according to your feedback.
  • Treating Multiple Teeth
If you are having a smile makeover to treat multiple teeth using the composite bonding process, we may need to perform this over multiple appointments. If you are considering treatment such as Invisalign® or teeth whitening, these treatments will need to be performed prior to composite bonding.

FAQs

How Long Does Composite Bonding Last?

This is dependent on a range of factors, such as how well you care for your teeth, genetics and your diet. If you would like your composite to remain its original shade, we recommend cutting back on tooth-staining food and drink.

Our dentists use the latest bonding techniques intended to maximise the lifespan of the composite resin once it is adhered to your tooth.

Who Is a Good Candidate For Composite Bonding?

We highly recommend composite bonding for patients who want to improve their smiles without a lengthy or involved procedure.

We recommend composite bonding for patients who wish to:

  • Fix minor/major cracks and chips in their teeth.
  • Improve the shade of individual and more teeth.
  • Find a minimally invasive alternative to porcelain veneers.
  • Close small and large gaps in their teeth.
  • Tackle minor/major tooth wear.

Are There Any Pre-Requisites For Composite Bonding?

You must have healthy teeth and gums before you can be considered for composite bonding. As responsible dental professionals, we will only ever proceed with an elective treatment like composite bonding once we know you have a clean bill of dental health.
