When a tooth suffers severe decay or trauma resulting in a deep crack, broken down tooth with little tooth structure left, a crown can be placed over the top once the decay has been thoroughly cleaned out.

Crowns Process
- Evaluation
One of our experienced restorative dentists will take digital photos of your smile, as well as X-rays and dental impressions. This diagnostic information is passed on to our talented dental technician, who will create, shape and shade your crown using tooth-mimicking materials.
- Preparing for your Crown
We use conservative techniques to prepare your tooth for a crown. Firstly, the decayed portion of the tooth is removed. In many cases, we can achieve this without having to disturb any healthy natural tooth structure. This is carried out under local anaesthetic – we can also offer sedation to help you relax (this is especially beneficial for nervous patients).
- Crown Placement
Your crown is carefully sealed tight against the remaining portion of your natural tooth structure. We use adhesion techniques designed to make sure bacteria are unable to come into contact with your tooth and cause further damage. Your dentist will check the bite and chewing surface of your new crown before adhering it in place.
